Something unusual that happened that day

Today, something really strange happened, I was at a shopping centre near my home with my parents and we were buying some Chinese New Year goodies, oranges and drinks. I was listening to music on my new headphones when all of a sudden, the music stopped. I looked into my bag and all I saw was the end of the headphones. My hand phone had disappeared! I searched my entire bag for my hand phone but to no avail, my hand phone was not in my bag. I was very worried as I had just gotten it yesterday, it cost me a bomb. I immediately told my parents about it and we went to the information counter to report the loss in case some kind soul found it and handed it to the information counter. After reporting the loss, I went on to retrace my steps. I went to the departmental store where we bought our New Year goodies. I went to the drinks section, the fruits section and a few other sections where I had been but still to no avail, my hand phone was nowhere to be found. I had almost given up hope of finding my hand phone and start to walk off when all of a sudden, I felt something right beside my feet. I looked down just to see my hand phone lying there. I picked it up immediately and looked around to see which kind soul returned the phone to me but there was no one. I do not know how my hand phone got there, but I am very grateful towards the person who returned the phone to me. Maybe that was my guardian angel, just maybe.

Something that took place in school

Today is Friday and it was the Chinese New Year celebrations. However, today was not New Year’s Eve, hence we still had lessons for the first half of the day. Although today was not New Year’s Eve, the principle announced that we would be released at twelve thirty as a few of our fellow Victorians won a competition a few days ago. The prize was a thousand dollar check which they gave to the school. We started the day with biology. Thankfully, our teacher did not give us a science test even though she said she would a few days ago. She only went through a chapter of the science workbook. Then, it was time for English. We went through some fundamentals of comprehension and soon it was recess time. After recess, we went to the hall to watch a performance put up by our fellow Victorians. We were also joined by a group of old folks from a nearby old folks home. After the performance, there was a prize giving ceremony for the most beautifully decorated classroom. Thanks to the hard work and effort put in by the class, our class came in third in the level. After the celebrations, we went back to class and our teachers split the prize among us and even gave us some goodies. The prize was a note pad and the goodies our teachers gave us were chocolates. No homework was given too. What a great way to end the week and celebrate the Chinese New Year!

A difficulty you faced

Today, I ran into a difficulty. I had to persuade a friend of mine to return some books I had loaned to him. He promised to return the books long ago but he did not. It has been three weeks and he has yet to return the books to me. The fine for not returning the books on time has been accumulating for several days. Today, about now, he is going to fly to London to study. At first, in the morning, I was at a loss as to what to do. If he went off without returning the books, I would have to pay the fines, which amounted up to over four dollars and also replace the missing books, which would cost at least four times the fine. Thankfully, I had a good friend who thought of a suggestion. He knew the teacher in charge of planning the trip for the friend going to London and had offered to talk to him about the books for me. During recess, I followed him to see the teacher. The teacher, upon hearing about my friend’s doings, was fuming mad. He immediately looked up my friend and told him that unless he returned the books and paid the fine, he would have to cancel my friend’s trip to London. My friend, upon hearing that, was terrified and immediately went back to his room in the hostel to retrieve the books and followed me to pay the fine. After that was over, I heaved a sigh of relief. If not for my good friend, I would have landed a huge debt.

A moment spent alone doing something you enjoyed

Today is Monday and I had nothing to do as two of our teachers were not around in school, hence, homework was minimal and I had a lot of spare time. I found out that my grandparents had gone out only when I came home and I was all alone in the house. My grandmother had gone to the wet market to buy fish and my grandfather went to the Singapore Expo for a food fair. I was feeling bored and decided to do what I enjoyed the most. I decided to play my favourite Play Station Portable game, DJ Max Portable 2. DJ Max Portable 2 is a game in which you have play a song by pressing certain buttons according to the notes on the screen. You can gain “experience” to “level up” and you can also earn “gold”, which is the currency in the game. You can use the gold to buy accessories like notes of different shapes. When you level up you can gain items like discs, images and songs into your collection. My favourite song is Ikarus. The images can be downloaded into the Play Station Portable as usable wallpapers. The songs can be used for playing too. For a grueling two hours, I was totally engrossed in playing the game. From a mere level twenty at the start, I managed to double my level and now I am a level forty, a soon to be professional player. I also managed to obtain a couple of new images to add to my collection, hooray!

A moment I enjoyed with my family

Today, I went to Pulau Ubin with my family and relatives. There was my father, my mother, my sister, my aunt, my uncle and two of my cousins. We started from the hawker centre near the Changi jetty where we met and ate our lunch. After we finished our lunch, we went to the jetty to board our ferry which was going to Pulau Ubin. My cousin and sister were terrified as the boat was rocking from side to side. In the end, they plucked up their courage and boarded the ferry which was not at all that scary. Within twenty minutes, we reached the jetty at Pulau Ubin. We rented some bicycles and headed out to Chek Jawa. After a few wrong turns and some time spent on going around in circles, we finally managed to reach Chek Jawa. At Chek Jawa, we saw many different wetland plants like mangroves and a few sea creatures like crabs and jellyfishes. We even managed to go onto the seaside and view the seaweed up close. We even managed to spot a group of crabs hiding under a pile of seaweed. Soon, the sun began to set and it was time to proceed to the campsite. We cycled to the bicycle shop to return the bicycles before proceeding towards the campsite. Then, we started cooking our dinner. We had rice, baked beans, sardines and luncheon meat for dinner. After the satisfying dinner, we had a mini campfire and soon it was time for bed. We will be going home tomorrow, and we will certainly miss this place.
